“People – Planet – Profit”
Service:
Service to our clients has been fundamental to the success of the business since it was established over 75 years ago. If our clients tell us that they want a combination of consistently high level of service, reliable protection and value then that is what we are duty bound to provide! In recent years we have recruited a number of experienced personnel for key roles. We have also invested in technology to enhance our personal service rather than replace it and have created our own Service standards to ensure that we maintain our focus.
We can only achieve our individual and corporate goals by satisfying our clients’ needs.
We are currently developing a web-based system that will be provided FREE to our clients. The system will enable you to communicate with us and for us to deliver vital documentation direct to you. Authorised members of your staff, with internet access, will be able to use system 24/7.
We will also include, free of charge, a web page profile so that the products and services of individual businesses can be promoted amongst other firms.
Family & Community:
As a long established family business, founded and still operating as a “community broker”, we are acutely aware of our social responsibilities. Both have shaped our business strategy.
We are active members of Scottish Family Business Association (SFBA) and are working closely with them to achieve their stated goals.
In addition, as residents of Lanarkshire, we recognise that the term “community” extends beyond those businesses and individuals with whom we do (or could) transact insurance business. Every Community consists of many diverse groups and we are committed to using our professional skills to bring some benefit to help those within our society who are “less fortunate”.
Our industry has a poor track record in this area. As a result there are numerous charitable and voluntary organisations that have struggled to secure and/or fund the necessary insurance cover required to provide a wide range of vital services.
We are accredited by Scottish Throughcare and Aftercare Forum (STAF). Our work with them, their members and other organisations in this sector has enabled us to provide solutions and donations to aid continuance of their good works. We are able to quote for a wide range of community groups and larger charitable bodies.
Peace of Mind:
It is only what you SHOULD receive from your insurance arrangements! Unfortunately, intense competition (amongst insurers and brokers) to secure increased market share has, all too often, led to cover and service being sacrificed in the quest to claim they are the cheapest! Of course we all want to pay as little as possible for our insurance but NOT if it proves to be a false economy in the event of a claim!?
We believe that if you compromise the integrity of an insurance product you inevitably diminish the ability for it to fulfil its intended purpose.
Price, Professionalism and Service are integral parts of providing peace of mind and that is why we are currently working with several like-minded insurers to create a suite of exclusive, branded, products that are designed to “deliver” for our clients.
Integrity, Ethics & Transparency:
We strive to operate to the highest ethical standards at all times and use the following test as a matter of course:
Simple ethical tests for a business decision
Transparency |
Do I mind others knowing what I have decided? |
Effect |
Who does my decision affect or hurt? |
Fairness |
Would my decision be considered fair by those affected? |
Security:
The financial standing of any of the insurers with whom we trade is of paramount importance to us and our clients. We independently monitor and regularly update our information in this regard. We only transact business with those insurers whose security has been approved by Broker Network Ltd.
Stability:
The insurance industry is, notoriously, cyclical. Insurers’ capacity and appetite for risks can be affected by a variety of issues from their own financial performance, “local” economic climate, claims experience in various business or geographic sectors, etc. as readily as they are determined by global factors. This can lead to substantial fluctuations in the annual spend for many businesses.
We are currently working with several insurers to develop a suite of branded products that are designed to stabilise annual costs, promote and reward reduced claims costs through risk management.
Consistency:
…the problem of accurately preparing budgets for a business! Selecting an insurer with a track record and understanding of a particular trade or profession is critical. In recent years insurers have increasingly “bought in” to markets where they believe an opportunity to profit exists. But there is no substitute for experience and this type of activity is more likely to create the instability that perpetuates the insurance cycle! Unsurprisingly, we have found that the most effective means of minimising the impact of these external factors is to take a proactive view of the inherent risks within your business. By recognising, assessing and managing these risks in conjunction with your broker and insurer you can effectively manage the “total cost of risk”
Compliance (FSA)
Since early 2005 our industry has been regulated by The Financial Services Authority. We have embedded many of the “key performance indicators” within our daily routines to ensure that we continue to comply with FSA requirements, hopefully, with minimal inconvenience to our clients!
